Collection: Sculpted by Richard Houston
Owner / operator of Lyzard's Grin from about 1980 to 1998. He produced a number of historical warships, troops, and equipment in a variety of scales.
As he retired, the various ranges moved to several different companies. Houston's range of Colonial Artillery in 25mm went to The London War Room.
During the time the range was with them, The London War Room was also producing Bob Charrette's Parroom Station Miniatures. As London War Room already had the artillery available for sale, Bob simply sculpted crewmen for his various Victorian Era factions, not seeing any need to sculpt pieces that were already available to customers. When The London War Room shut down, Bob's molds were returned to him, and Houston's Artillery went to a new home with The Virtual Armchair General.
Shortly after RPL began producing the Parroom Station Miniatures ranges (around late 2021 or early 2022), we needed to find a source for the now-missing artillery. Bob suggested contacting The Virtual Armchair General about possibly licensing the range, or at least pieces of it. Emails were sent, and communication began.
It turns out that The Virtual Armchair General had already decided to replace the classic Houston sculpts with 3D printed versions. Since they intended to phase out the classic metal sculpts, they offered to sell the range to RPL. Details were worked out, and once they had swapped the last of the miniatures to 3D printed versions, they shipped the molds to us.
We now have much of the range in production, but we still have a good number that need new production molds made. This will be done periodically, as we can.
